Hey everyone,

We've been hanging pretty low lately just working on some tunes for the next record and playing shows here and there throughout the summer.

We also had to relocate our jam space due to the crazy amounts of rain the prairies have been getting this summer and the ensuing floodin'!

Erin's been in Montreal recording a solo album and friends from around the country have been remixing our tunes into insta-dance-party hits!!

I've been mostly out at the lake as well as taking some Sociology classes, getting learned!!!

My life of leisure is about to end though as we're gearing up for a Fall Canadian tour with our good pals from Vancouver SAID THE WHALE.

In Texas we played at Homeslice. Not only did we eat way too much amazing pizza but we got to play right before Kiimya Dawson!

Hi friends, we've seen many places since the last time we've posted. Our bellies are still full from all the yummy cheese and bread we ate in Europe, and our pale prairie skin is still missing the hot hot Austin sun. But we're happy to be home and cuddling with our cats again.
We've released a 3-song EP on iTunes and are having a party to celebrate it in Regina on April 16th at the Distrikt. See you soon, friends!

Rah Rah would like to say thank you for all the new people in their lives and are very grateful to have been able to tour across Canada so many times the past 2 years. Our tour in the U.S.A was also an amazing experience and are really excited to go back many more times. We have been accepted into SXSW this year so we are working on a tour down through the States around March, so stay tuned for dates.

"It's hard to remember dreams when you're living your dream," a wise man once said. Well actually, that was me who said that, I'm not that wise and that statement isn't true. The point is that living on the road and playing relatively every night in front of great receptive crowds is an amazing feeling. "Worth it," is said usually when a group of people endure some sort of hardship and the results are successful. In a self reflecting pause, what are we doing? Where is Rah Rah going? Who am I? O.k. the last question was more for me then the reader. but seriously, WTFAI? (who the fuck am I) as I look in the mirror for 23 seconds. I can answer the first 2 questions. Rah Rah is writing songs, booking shows, and managing everyday. Where we are going is a good question, I can only tell you that we are going on tour in the States in December (facebook will tell you the dates and places,) with a band called Fake Places and Minus the Bear. Also, we plan to tour Europe someday. Rah Rah will be going many places and maybe into space. Not space really, that was more for Kristina than for anyone else. Going places with Rah Rah is a Dream Come True. So for all you subscribers out there: live your dream, unless you're being chased by a scary evil man and you can't run very fast.

Hi!

We just got added to a show here in London, Ontario! At Call the Office. TONIGHT.

Our days off here have been very pleasant! I, personally, spent too much at LUSH (of course), but I just cant keep my hands off that shit!

So far our tour has been plagued with random illness. From fevers and colds to stomach flues and conjunctivitis, we really know how to work out our immune systems! I think we're all on the mend now, but dang that was ridiculous!

How are you? Tell me (us) everything!

Rah Rah has landed!! after nearly a two month tour, Rah Rah has gone back to work. As we wash dishes, serve tables, help customers find what they are looking for and move furniture for the movies, Rah Rah is putting together their Fall Tour as you read this blog. (It's going to ba an epic tour) Rah Rah would like to thank everyone for coming out to their shows and supporting what we love to do.

Over the last two months we got tanned, bags stolen, almost started smoking again, played every nintendo game ever, made awesome videos,( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pYGgN2-MZ3o , http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oDLRLbzP7EA&feature=related ), danced, asked what if questions (what if your mom was your dad?), played football, watched the Habs, and played amazing shows across Canada for the fourth time this year. All the while we did not go to Tim Hortons the whole time which is really impressive (except when Marshall snuck off to a gas station pseudo tim hortons and got a bagel) but we decided he wasn't in the wrong. People of the world..... have a good summer, and stay tuned for a Rah Rah video and more fall tour postings..... life is good, unless your a sea creature in the gulf of mexico.... :(

We played Cornerbrook last night and I could just feel the good vibes in ma bones. Tonight we have the pleasure of playing in St. John's at the Ship! AND (as if the universe knew that wouldn't be enough to satisfy our Newfoundland hunger) we get to play the Ship AGAIN the following night (Saturday!)!!

This week our stage theatrics were brought to new heights with the addition of giant silver helium balloons, lazer fingers, lazer quest style fog, a candy-filled heart pinata smashed by a lightning stick, and three tandem confetti canons.

Rah Rah, Regina, Saskatchewan’s pop-rock collective announce, their new sophomore album, Breaking Hearts (Young Soul Records) will be released on June 1, 2010. It follows the widespread industry praise for 2008’s debut album, Going Steady and reinforces the increasing visibility that has accompanied Rah Rah’s relentless tour schedule. Rah Rah were crowned “Best New Canadian Band” and “Best New Alternative Band” by iTunes in 2009.

Breaking Hearts was recorded and mixed in Montreal by Kees Dekker (Plants & Animals). A companion EP to the full–length will also follow later this year. But don’t let their fresh faces, confetti cannons and constant sugar highs fool you, Rah Rah are old souls. This young, seven-member ensemble artfully bridge sincerity with the absurd. Despite lyrics that touch on underwater sea creatures, stockbrokers, Saskatchewan (and now Montreal), and impressionist painters - their songs are built to break your heart.

From the instantly ear-catching album opener Arrows, to the piano intro of Lightning - that opens up in to a chorus of female vocals, to the quirky What About Love, Breaking Hearts is diverse, direct, duet-filled and the bands best work. It is also the recorded introduction of newest band member and guitarist Leif Thorseth to the band. His addition to the group, according to lead vocalist Marshall Burns “has really influenced the writing to be more collaborative and provides more sweet guitar interplays!”

yesterday in whistler we played this pretty rad outdooor stage and for a moment i managed to seperate myself from the inspired rock and roll and three yelling snowboarders to look at the mountain in the distance and i remembered this poem. Here it is cohorts:

our fall tour has come to an end. Each of us was returned to our homes with a few longing tears, many memories, and increased rock and roll skillz. Thanks to everyone who came to the shows or let us sleep on your floors or in your beds or gave us new life long friendship. Tour, we will miss you, but mark my words, we will be back. We will be back.
On the bright side, our new friend Jeans Rockenvery approached us about a few feature films based on the events of the tour. They are scheduled to be released in theaters early 2010.

Back on tour! While the drive from Regina to Winnipeg is (in our opinion) one of the worst, most boring drives on the Trans-Canada, we all know that hanging out and playing in Winnipeg is well worth it... plus the Lo Pub has sweet dance parties after bands on Thursday nights. Here something you may not know about me (joel... you know... Joel Passmore... bass player... no the other guy... doesn`t ring a bell? oh well....)

I don't own a computer... That's right i said it! I did for a while but then it decided that it didn't want to be a computer anymore as much as a dust collecting pile of old technology...

Subjects of conversation don't stray too far from Star Trek and deal mostly with mobile communicators (aka transmitters), how close mankind is to teleportation, whether the sun is really the retna of an alien, and who is the best guitar player in the world (Stephen Malkmus)((maybe not)).

Dear Mother,
I'm writing to tell you that the fall Rah Rah "It's Never too Old to Believe a Dream" Tour of 2009 has been treating us very well.
For example, yesterday whilst enjoying a platter full of half-priced three cheese tortellini I became so wistful and overcome with hope for the coming weeks that I had to spend twenty minutes in the bathroom shedding tears of joy. Oh the tomato sauce! The bread garnish! It was so meaningful.

I would like to take this moment in time to really compliment the faculty of visual arts for their never-ending support of prospective visiting students. Every moment I think of their sincerity, I am overcome with the same tortellini emotion.

And when you ask, dearest Mother, "Are you famous yet", I can only answer with a word:
"No".

When the rah rah's step out of the van after driving for 17 hours to re-unite with their fellow Rah Rah, the world shook and the sky went black. Rah rah confronts kristina about her alcohol and drug addiction. Kristina tries to get clean but loses her mind and is found in an abandoned boutique convinced she has happily married a mannequin.

Vanessa caves under the pressure of the touring lifestyle and becomes crazed midnight pyromaniac. No one confronts her because she funds the tour by selling her babies and mushroom soup.

Rah Rah was first suspicious when Samra crushed a rock with her bare hands but just assumed it was because she is the coolest person they knew. It turns out she was a wizard.

Dear tour,
I miss you... I miss your smell. I miss your musk. Maybe after all this "going back to work" and "spending time with friends and family" we could get a place... you know just the two of us. Maybe a 2 bedroom - or 1 or whatever... over looking the park. It would be non-stop laughs... people would say "There go Rah Rah and Tour! They must be up to their old tricks again. Wow! They look so good together."

I'm just saying it could be fun... you know... Maybe once a week we could cook a new receipt together! Maybe host a game night once in a while.

Tour times

Hello friends!

Well, yesterday marks the end of our odyssey, the Velvet Slipper Tour 2009. Amongst the weeping and tragic goodbyes i think we all feel like it was a pretty good time. We met lots of new friends and saw lots of beautiful places.

I must say, our last night on tour was fairly interesting. We played in Medicine Hat to a pretty empty gymnasium. Joel and Marshall and Kris then decided, for no apparent reason, to go to the Carona bar. Joel had passed by earlier and said the people calling at him seemed nice. We arrived and, let me tell you, dear reader, i have never seen the likes of it. After a few hours(minutes) of dancing, Joel went to get more drinks. What happened then is this: some big tough guy came and started poking fun at Marshall. Kris turned around and said "what it is, what, it, is.". He said something like "what, you got a problem @$#%". Marshall started to cry. Kris said "say that again". He said something like "i'm going to break your face". Kris said "i wish you would!". As Joel approached with the beers all he saw was Kris break a bottle at this guy's feet and get taken out by security. Although this story is slightly exaggerated and she may have been kicked out for her sober dancing, it is still a good story where kris kept it real.

Thanks to everyone who helped us out on this tour. We love you.

Well, we made it from coast to coast, island to island, ocean to ocean. The times were unforgettable. Only six more days of living the dream. Life is good.

A few weeks ago at a value village Samra showed me a vhs cover of new kids on the block hanging out in a drug free park. Ever since i have dreamt of recreating that photo shoot. The time finally came in edmonton just outside of the improvaganza! (not the most orthodox of rah rah show). Try not to stare at this one too long, it can be hypnotizing.

Joel doesn't know it yet, but he is kicked out of the band. It is sad but mostly hilarious when he talks about our friendship and future plans.

Just kidding.

Dear diary,

Yesterday we drove from Hamilton and arrived in Toronto. It feels good to be back. We got our passes then played a show at the hotel at two o'clock. Beforehand, we had spent at least 25 minutes planning how we would run around yelling with tambourines right before the set but we all lost our nerve. Later, in the lobby, Samra and Joel pooped their pants as they had come face to face with the GZA. They got a picture. It was a beautiful thing. Later we went to eat at this restaurant. Last time we went there I found a massive beard hair in my fresh roll. This time it was good though. Not a beard in sight. Incidentally, on our way back we saw a man stop as we passed Hooters and put his face right up to the window and cup his hands around his eyes. Later we went for dinner at Sushi Island (Island sushi?) and we had delicious brown rice sushi and talked about controlling people's minds. Then I found some Hostess chips, which I bought, for nostalgia's sake. I'm not sure whether it was because I had eaten the whole bag, also for nostalgia's sake, or because they had probably expired in 1987, but I didn't feel too great for a while. Later we played a show at Rancho Relaxo. It was really good times; the people were awesome and super fun. The paparazzi is getting out of control now that we've made it big though. (Just kidding. Obviously.) Vanessa and Samra went to see King Khan, which was so sweet, and they then saw Gza again. Then we went to a few bar type places late into the night, then went to bed.

Dear diary,

we are out scoring heroine. Which we sold, double our profits, and used to buy, more heroine. Which we sold, double our profits, which we used to buy, wool. Today went on the overnight ferry. The smelly guys stole our seats so some of us had to sleep in two chairs pushed together. Then we drove 9 hours to St. Johns. Then we all quit the band. Then we all rejoined because of the super fun times show and team work. We talked about the space elevator today. Life is the best. Tomorrow we are going to go find an iceberg.
